Meet Craig Vollert

Meet Craig Vollert Craig is a fifth year doctoral student in the department of pharmacology. He spent his undergraduate career studying psychology.

Why RED Labs?

I wanted to get a better grasp on all of the aspects of running a business. I wanted to take part in an accelerator to fill in the gaps my team had when fleshing out the business plan. This is also a great chance to network.

What’s your favorite part of RED Labs?

Being able to engage with other entrepreneurs in the same stage as I am. It’s a great support structure - and helps you get through the difficult of starting a company. Also, the exposure to people around you in the community, and connections you might not otherwise find.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned at RED Labs?

How to find your riskiest assumption, and the process of validating and invalidating those assumptions that would make your business fail.

Describe your experience with RED Labs in three words.

Busy, inspiring & challenging.

What is your background?

I have been happily married for 6 months. I like to play tennis and soccer.

Why did you decide to go into pharmacology?

It came down to doing research in psychology or pharmacology - I was in a research lab for both as an undergraduate. Psychology was going to be writing surveys and digging through data; whereas pharmacology was just more hands on.

What are your plans for the future?

I see myself running a life science consumable company. I also want to do something creative in the future.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

I wanted to be an author or something else creative. I want to create something that impacts people.

What’s your spirit animal?

A jaguar - they are like a more dangerous, individualistic cat.
