As part of our interview series this summer we talk to founders, staff members, guest speakers and mentors. This week: RED Labs class 3 founder Kyle LaMotta of datafuel.
Kyle is an MBA student at the University of Houston, with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech. Kyle previously worked in productions, operations and facilities engineering on conventional, unconventional and deepwater assets at Hess Corporation.
I joined the MBA program because I wanted to start my own business. I was attracted to RED Labs because of the lean startup mindset and wanted to be surrounded by people who could help me realize my vision, and be exposed to mentors that I would otherwise not have the opportunity to find.
Innovative, educational & exciting.
I grew up in Houston. I lived here until I moved away for college. After graduating college, I lived in North Dakota for three years. Once my wife became pregnant with our first child, we moved back to Texas, where I now live with my wife and two boys - Eli and Austin.
I want to be able to have a lifestyle that allows me to spend time with my family, travel and have experiences that most people miss out on. I want to pursue my goals instead of working towards someone else’s.
